well we rescued (on friday 5n nov) a racing pigeon that is lost and was injured we contacted The Royal Pigeon Racing Association and they said to wait a few days. we got a letter from them on the saturday and it quotes ‘under the rules of the Association it is the duty of the owner of the pigeon to claim it from you within 2 working days’, and well it has been 2 working days. the pigeon is fine now and whenever we let it out of the box it flies round the house so its wings are fine now. im just wondering what do we do with the pigeon now that the guy hasn’t come and claimed it. we don’t have the facilities to keep the pigeon for much longer because of the dogs and soon there wont be anyone in the house at all times to make sure it doesn’t do a great escape. any advise?
we cant let it out since we have reported it just in case the owner comes for it and it is lost. i know from my dad that the pigeon season ended 22nd september and its from sheffield.
Early today I found a homing pigeon in my backyard. I tried to take a picture of it and I noticed it had a small silver band on its ankle. Later that day, the pigeon was on the roof close enough to where I could touch it. I looked more closely at the band and it read, "TPRA 2005." I think that the TPRA may stand for Tennessee Park Ranger Association. I don’t know why it’s here but I think maybe it’s either from a State Park or it’s a racing pigeon. Whatever the case, I don’t know how to get it down to look for a code on the band. Please help me. Thanks.
A white and grey pigeon with bands on its legs followed my dad round the garden yesterday, we thought it could be injured etc, so i picked it up as it has bands and clearly belongs to someone, so we could read the bands and track down its owner…
It has a band on each leg, each just with a 2 digit number and that is all, and there is no stamp or contact details under either of the wings.
I called the pigeon racing association but they expected the number to have more of a code to track down the area it came from etc..
At the moment the pigeon is being fed and having some water in my shed to protect it from the local cats, foxes…
literally all i have is that its a white and grey bird with bands with only a 2 digit number on each – what do i do?
thank you for all of your help!
let him free this morning and he flew away, but came back this afternoon and doesn’t seem keen to go again!
will try all of your suggestions and hopefully find his real home, i hate to think ive stolen someone’s birdie!
